FAQ

*What do I need to bring and wear?
Bring your own Yoga mat, wear comfortable gym sportswear, warm jumper and bottle of water. Optional props: Yoga block or cushion, small blanket, Yoga belt.

*Who can participate in the Yoga class?
Everyone can participate. Many first time yoga participants are unable to perform all of the poses. Mariana’s Yoga classes have various levels and props will be used to assist in getting to all of the poses. Be patient, after a few weeks, you will eventually be able to achieve more. If you are suffering from any medical conditions or injuries, recovering from operation, or pregnant, please get advice from your doctor or therapist beforehand.

*Do I need to be fit and flexible to do yoga?
Not necessarily. Yoga will help you achieve better flexibility, range of movement and fitness level. One of the greatest benefits of yoga is that you learn to become more patient with yourself and your body. The journey of yoga is never-ending and there will always be more to learn so your goal should not be to “complete” every pose. Everyone’s abilities and levels are different. Guidance through modifications and support systems (i.e., props) will be provided, so that students can follow along to the best of their ability. In Yoga, we cultivate mindfulness and we learn to listen to what the body is telling us. When we honour what, we learn a great deal about finding our edge without going too far.

*What are the health benefits of Yoga?
The list is endless, but to mention a few: improves flexibility, builds strength, improves muscle tone and definition, better balance and core stability, supports joint health, helps in preventing back pain, teaches better breathing, fosters mental calmness, reduces stress, increases sports performance, self-confidence, youthfulness and the “feel good” factor.
