FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Qn: Do I need to bring a partner to dance with?

Ans: No. we use a rotational system where everybody moves round frequently. If there are more men than women (or vice versa), they may have to wait for a moment before we all rotate again. So if you come on your own, you will always have someone to dance with. Rotating gives you experience of a wide range of styles and better helps prepare you for social dancing.

Qn: What kind of shoes should I wear?

Ans: For beginners, flat footwear is best. Something comfortable to wear, as you will be mainly stepping through the dance moves. When you move into the intermediates class you may then want to invest in a pair of dancing shoes. Many of the members buy from lots of different sites and would love to advise you once you are ready.

Qn: What time do the classes start?

Ans: we advertise the classes as starting at 7.30pm for Intermediates/Improvers and 8.30pm for Beginners on Wednesday and 8pm Thursdays for all levels; however, most people arrive around that time and with changing of shoes and saying their 'hello's' the warm up routine tends to start 10 minutes later. So come as early as you like and have a drink beforehand.

Qn: Where are the classes?

Ans: Wednesdays are at the Millstone pub in Bolton town centre and Thursdays are at the Lostock Tennis club. See the tab "Where are the classes" for full details.

Qn: Is there any parking at the sites?

Ans: At the Millstone, there is a public car park a short walk from the pub (the bottom of Crown street, and also across the road). There is a £1:40 charge for overnight parking.

At Lostock there is free parking both at the club and on the road outside.
